ProjectsSMART-Y

February 27, 2022

Duration: 15. 5. 2021 – 14. 5. 2023

Project reference: 624643-EPP-1-2020-1-PL-EPPKA3-EU-YTH-TOG

SMART-Y’s purpose is the creation, development and stabilisation of a network of like-minded youth organisations from across Europe, active at grassroots level and able to engage, connect and empower youth to achieve a society in which all young people, namely those from rural areas, are environmentally active, educated and able to make a difference in their everyday lives, contributing to the European Youth Goal 10 – Sustainable Green Europe, through the concrete development of Smart Villages projects.

The project brings together partners from Poland, Italy, Spain, Romania, Greece, Norway, Austria, Cyprus, Slovakia and Slovenia. We all share the same goal to empower, engage and connect vulnerable young people between 18 and 30, towards the co-creation of European Smart Villages. We want to reinforce knowledge, skills and competences for youth workers. Our activities encourage youngsters to be environmentally active and to make a difference in their everyday lives. Through this project we want to contribute to the overall EU policy agenda by improving the engagement of vulnerable youth with decision makers.

More information is available on the project website.

Project activities

  • Local living labs: youth-centered exchange occasions held at local level and facilitated by the partners. These are open innovation ecosystems based on a co-creation approach integrating research and innovation processes in real-life communities and rural/remote settings.
  • Virtual hackathon: an event where participants of all experience levels and specialties come together to solve important problems by coming up with innovative ideas and “hacking” cool projects, finding a technological solution to an everyday problem.
  • Prototyping workshops: 3 workshops in Greece, Poland and Austria will foster active citizenship among young people in the form of policy creation/local programming, by equipping them with hands-on/prototyping techniques which are best suited to match young people’s needs and attitudes, put ideas into practice, developing models and prototypes, with great impact in terms of self-esteem and a more optimistic approach to the future and one’s role in it.
