On Monday we met online with Respect Connect project partners to review the progress and plan next steps, focusing on scenario development, key app design decisions, upcoming milestones, and actions for the Educators’ Toolkit and dissemination activities.
The importance of this work is clear. Studies by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (2023) and the World Health Organization (2021) show that around one in three students aged 11 – 15 in the EU has experienced bullying or violence at school. The European Commission’s Eurydice report (2022) also points to a rise in cyberbullying, affecting 10 – 15% of students.
Through its gamified, scenario-based approach, Respect Connect aims to support students in developing empathy, emotional awareness, conflict-resolution skills, and responsible online behaviour – helping them navigate both offline and digital challenges in a safe and meaningful way.
