Preschool teachers and children are at the centre of the Green Portfolio project. Our goal is to provide preschool children with opportunities to learn about sustainability in an international context through bilingual education and collaboration with peers from another country.
ACTIVITIES
Partners will co-create 10 bilingual sustainability workshops for children, which will serve as a consistent annual educational tool. The project includes a joint learning experience in Spain, job shadowing in Germany, and participation in the Erasmus+ Incubator in Slovenia. The workshops will be piloted in 2 countries, engaging around 75 children, who will share their results via international videocalls. The dissemination will involve at least 400 kindergarten educators from various countries.
RESULTS
The project includes multilingual learning materials in German–Spanish–Catalan combinations (with an additional English version for broader use), portfolios documenting children’s participation in workshops and video calls, and enhanced green skills education for both teachers and children.
All partners will enhance their skills for international work. Children will benefit from digital collaboration with peers in another country, enabling them to compare nature and society across two nations.
The role of STEP Institute
STEP will actively participate in all activities of the project while taking the lead on two key areas: the Erasmus+ Incubator Course participation (A5) and international dissemination.
Project results: Green Portfolio Handbook
This manual has been designed as a practical and structured guide for preschool teachers committed to comprehensive education for sustainability. We know that the early years of life are fundamental for cultivating values, attitudes and knowledge that will last over time. That is why this project focuses on introducing children, from an early age, to a love of nature and respect for the planet we inhabit.
Green Portfolio is an educational programme consisting of a series of ten workshops designed with creativity, sensitivity and pedagogical rigour. The playful and experiential approach allows children aged 4 to 6 to understand key concepts of sustainability while developing their imagination, critical thinking and sense of belonging to the natural environment.
This manual is the result of a collaborative and loving process, backed by solid educational experience and sustained by the commitment of a professional team that firmly believes in the transformative power of early childhood education.
