Triatlon aktivizma (Triathlon of Activism) is an innovative project by STEP designed to ignite active citizenship and deepen the integration of global education across Europe. With a unique blend of in-person empowerment and virtual collaboration, the project addresses pressing global issues—inequality, sustainability, human rights—by turning abstract concepts into tangible action.
WHY THIS PROJECT MATTERS
Global challenges often feel distant and overwhelming. Many young people and educators lack the tools and support to act on these issues meaningfully. This project bridges that gap by equipping youth and educators with the knowledge, skills, and motivation to create impactful social innovations, rooted in inclusion, critical thinking, and shared responsibility.
Triatlon aktivizma recognizes that youth are not just future leaders—they are present changemakers. Through a transformative journey, the project nurtures their growth from observers to activists, and eventually into multipliers and innovators in their communities.
TWO PILLARS OF THE PROJECT
- Activist Weekend (Ljubljana, 21–23 November 2025)
A 3-day immersive event for young people aged 15–30 from diverse backgrounds, including students, jobseekers, young entrepreneurs, and migrants. Structured around three themes— What? Why? How? —the event includes:
- Day 1: Expert-led workshops on intersectionality, gender equality, climate justice, and human rights.
- Day 2: Motivational storytelling from change agents, including voices from the Global South.
- Day 3: Creation of action-oriented prototypes using a tailored Canvas model for social innovation.
By the end of the weekend, participants become activists, with at least 10 ready-to-test prototypes addressing societal challenges.
- Pan-European Conference on Global Education (Online, 27 November 2025)
An interactive virtual event for 300 educators and youth workers across Europe and the Global South, featuring:
- Showcases of youth-developed solutions.
- Practical workshops led by experts on integrating global education into teaching.
- Interactive Padlet poster sessions for educators already practicing global education.
- Resource sharing, including a replicable scenario for organizing a local Triathlon of Activism.
Participants progress through the “pyramid of inclusion,” gaining tools, motivation, and a community to enact systemic change.
