Project overview
BEACON aims to help primary and secondary school teachers use bridge as an innovative educational tool to develop pupils’ mathematical reasoning, logical thinking, problem-solving and social skills.
The project will create a free, multilingual online training platform with Open Online Courses (OOC) for teachers across Europe. By combining game-based learning, digital tools and practical classroom activities, BEACON aims to increase pupils’ interest in STEM subjects, promote inclusion and strengthen teachers’ digital and pedagogical competences.
Activities
BEACON will conduct research and identify good practices in bridge-based education (WP2), design teacher training pathways and develop an online learning platform (WP3), and pilot the training in schools, where teachers will introduce bridge activities into their classrooms (WP4). The project will also assess the educational impact of these activities and share its results through national workshops, educational networks and a final European event in Strasbourg (WP5).
Impact
BEACON aims to encourage innovative teaching methods and improve pupils’ mathematical and logical reasoning, problem-solving and social competences. It will promote interest in STEM subjects, particularly among girls and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds, while strengthening teachers’ digital skills. The project also aims to establish a European community connecting teachers, bridge clubs and education stakeholders to support the continued use of bridge in education.
We are partnering in the project with Erasmus+ courses by Primera and our venture Primera – Zentrum für pädagogische Fortbildung Wien.
