SPATIAL JUSTICE objave (3)

With the project Spatial Justice we want to engage, empower and enable youth to lead sustainable actions for transforming peripheral areas into livable areas through sharing good practice, innovative tools and methods.

The project supports young people with an e-learning platform which offers many interesting lessons, like the one from Ana Turhani: We and the public space

Course Highlights:

  • What is public space?
  • The use of public spaces in our country, indifference towards them…
  • How should public space be in order to encourage its use and activation?
  • The role of designers and users in the success of public spaces.

Overview of the lecture

What we observe in our country is that there is an impoverishment when it comes to public spaces. Both the designers and the users are responsible for the poverty of these spaces. This problem comes because firstly the designers have stopped paying attention to the qualities that a public space must have to be successful. On the other hand the users themselves, not understanding their rights over public spaces, remain indifferent and are complicit in the abandonment of these spaces by not using them. Highlighting these two main issues, Ana brings into attention how close we are to public spaces and how we can bring them closer to us.

About the lecturer:

Ana has just finished her studies in the architecture field. While her professional journey actually is based in the realm of design and construction, her true fascination lies in the intricate sphere of human interactions. Ana’ curiosity about people and their behavior transcends the boundaries of her chosen field.

She seeks to immerse herself in various processes, works, studies, and hobbies that offer opportunities to understand others on a deeper level. It was this innate desire to connect with individuals, comprehend their reactions, and unravel the reasons behind their behavior that drew her towards architecture—a path that not only allows her to shape physical spaces but also provides a gateway to a world brimming with diverse personalities. Ana’s unwavering dedication to exploring the world and engaging with people, are the reasons behind which stands her frequent travels and constant presence in the exterior realm.

The lecture is available on the e-learning platform in English, German, Slovenian, Bosnian, and Albanian. Visit the website: https://spatialjustice.eu/courses/
