The increasing migration flows across Europe present both opportunities and challenges for labour market integration. Many migrants possess valuable skills and experience, yet they face significant barriers in accessing training and employment. These challenges contribute to labour market inefficiencies and social exclusion, limiting both individual potential and economic growth.
The project directly addresses these issues by adopting a trainer-centered approach to labour market integration. Rather than focusing solely on migrants as learners, we empower trainers -key facilitators in the integration process – to provide tailored, effective, and inclusive training. By equipping trainers with the necessary tools, skills, and digital resources, we enhance their capacity to assess, guide, and support migrants more effectively, ensuring long-term and sustainable impact.
By analyzing and adapting best practices, the project ensures targeted training approaches. The development and pilot testing of specialized training modules will enhance utility and scalability. Next to project management and communication & dissemination, P2P includes research and analysis, developing guidelines, conducting desk research, interviews, and surveys, leading to an analytical report on prior learning and support needs. It then develops training modules, an itinerary, and a guide for trainers, ensuring cross-sectoral accessibility. Pilot testing follows, refining content through small- and large-scale training iterations, with evaluations leading to final recommendations.
The project results include guidelines for conducting analysis, national desk research, stakeholder interviews and focus groups, and an analytical report summarizing best practices and recommendations. It delivers three training modules on prior learning validation, adapting learning pathways, and language/cultural adaptation, plus a Guide for Trainers. Results are tested through pilot trainings, with findings published in a digital learning hub and P2P magazine.
The role of STEP
STEP leads WP3, which focuses on the development of three learning modules that will equip trainers in VET institutions and companies with the necessary skills and methodologies to deliver more efficient and effective training for migrant learners.
